Recent EU and UK power regulations mandate that while in Standby mode a product can draw no more than 3W of power, and will further lower the maximum allowed draw to 2W in 2019.
As a result of these new regulations, it is regrettably no longer possible to retain power to the network circuitry while in standby mode as this would draw above the maximum allowed power. The Network Wakeup option has been removed from the setup menu for units sold in the UK and EU markets. This means IP control can no longer be used to power-on a Rotel device from Standby mode.
As an alternative, Rotel models offer 2-way RS232 control as well. All commands available over IP will also work with RS232 and many of the same control systems that work over IP also offer RS232 connection options. For more information or questions regarding control system integration we recommend discussing this with your authorized Rotel dealer.
For situations where IP control is a requirement or a wired RS232 connection is not practical, Ethernet IP to RS232 adapters are commonly available and can be used to provide an IP interface to Rotel models.
All Rotel CD players from the 10 series and newer can read CDR discs. We cannot guarantee 100% compatibility however, due to the large differences in media and CD writers available.
Most Rotel CD players cannot read CDRW discs. Only the RCD-1520, RCD-1570, RCX-1500 and RCD-12 models can read both CDR and CDRW discs.
No. Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are different formats that require a different type of laser to read and therefore require special players. Your Rotel player is a standard DVD player and therefore will not support these high resolution discs.
The following DVD player models can read both CDR and CDRW discs, as well as MP3 and JPEG files stored on these discs:
The RDV-1080 does not have a dual laser mechanism that is required for CDR playback. However, it may read some CDRW discs, though 100% compatibility is not guaranteed due to the many different types of media and CD writers available.
No. Many AM stations also broadcast via the internet, however.
Yes, these models do include a FM tuner. Do note on the RCX-1500, RDG-1520 and RT-09, that while the FM tuner does not draw its signal from the internet, it is a part of the internet radio module therefore will not start if one of the USB dongles is not physically connected to the unit.
The HDMI switching hardware in these Rotel models utilized HDMI 1.1 technology which predated 3D and so unfortunately these Rotel products cannot pass 3D video signals and this hardware cannot be updated to support this.
If you wish to use 3D video with these models, consider running the HDMI video directly from your source device to the TV, then if the source device offers dual HDMI outputs you can run a second HDMI connection to the Rotel processor for audio, or if this is not an option use a different connection such as Optical for audio.
Yes! 3D video is a supported feature for these models.
Do note for models RSP-1570, RSX-1550 and RSX-1560 that a software update may be required to enable 3D video support if they are not currently running the latest version.
The RSP-1582 can pass 4K video up to 30 frames per second. This video quality is transmitted using HDMI 1.4 specification and does not require HDCP 2.2.
